Dedicated, uninterrupted high-speed connectivity is at the core of digital transformation and lays the foundation for enterprises to leverage well-known technologies and embrace emerging ones. Dedicated internet access (DIA) service satisfies demand for dedicated, high-bandwidth connectivity.

DIA is an unshared internet connection that provides symmetrical upload and download speeds backed by service-level agreements (SLAs). DIA services inherently provide network reliability, packet delivery, and network throughput at higher levels than broadband links, which are inexpensive and widely available but lack the SLAs that DIA circuits offer.

The North American DIA services market is mature but has experienced a fresh burst of energy in the past few years along with the rising adoption of software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN). SD-WAN challenges the status quo of traditional WAN services. While some customers have chosen to create a hybrid SD-WAN network by adding broadband links to MPLS or Ethernet WANs, others have chosen to disconnect private networks and instead utilize a combination of broadband, DIA, and wireless links.

The increased use of cloud-based applications, including online collaboration tools, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams; customer relationship management tools; and voice over internet protocol/unified communications solutions, companies require DIA services to get consistently high-performing, symmetrical connection to public cloud applications for fast performance. Many cloud business applications are latency-sensitive, and DIA connectivity enables them to function efficiently.
