Extended detection and response (XDR) is a fast-growing solution category that aims to address customer pain points in an ever-evolving threat landscape. The solution has three promises at its core: cross-layered detection and response, visibility, and actionability capabilities across all major threat vectors; meaningful automation that can empower cybersecurity analysts to focus on critical alerts and decision-making, provided via artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities embedded into the solution; and first- and third-party integration of other security solutions, providing flexibility, orchestration, and centralization of the security environment.

The XDR market is fiercely competitive, with vendors taking different approaches to increasing their customers' cyber resilience. Some focus on a vendor-agnostic approach, creating integrating platforms that deliver ultimate flexibility, while others prefer a hybrid approach of native integrations supported by several third-party ones or offer native-first solutions that bet on their own portfolios. The development and integration of generative AI has created another space for competition beyond detection and response technology, processes, and management features.

Many competitors are switching to a more proactive security approach with the deeper integration of threat intelligence, configuration and vulnerability recommendations, and identity threat detection and response capabilities. Another important area of differentiation is visibility and actionability across a wide range of environments, which will enable organizations in a variety of industries to increase their cyber resilience.

Frost & Sullivan analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™, considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
