This Frost Radar™ focuses on leading service providers offering comprehensive wavelength services in North America. The North American market is in a mature stage. In recent years, the request for wavelength services has snowballed, driven by exponential demand for bandwidth from wholesale and retail customers. As such, the market is mainly driven by high bandwidth demand from enterprises looking to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives, adoption of AI-enabled applications, hyperscalers, the use of bandwidth-intensive collaboration tools, and demand for data center and cloud connectivity.

Service providers interviewed for this analysis quoted 100G as the most commonly demanded configuration, while 400G is gaining traction. Network service providers offer additional services to differentiate their offerings, including view, quote, and order via the customer portal; waves on demand; and fiber expansion to increase the number of fiber-lit buildings and enable them to turn up services quickly.

This Frost Radar™ analysis offers a perspective on market trends and assesses six leading providers of wavelength services in North America. Frost & Sullivan analyzed and benchmarked them primarily based on their wavelength portfolios, including their presence in the retail and wholesale segments, and their performance across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. This publication presents competitive profiles of each company, considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths. Some wavelength providers not represented here declined to participate in this analysis or did not respond to interview requests.
